Hi everyone
I have recently rebuilt a fibre-glass pebble/cobble. (replaced woodwork)
I was wondering what reccomendations anyone would give for an outboard for it?
Its very lightweight at 16ft.
I have been told lots of different things?
I have a motor but Id like to see what anyone says before I tell you what I got.

16ft - light .........

probably a 20/30 would be fine ...... a 40 would be fast but depends on hull design . . . . . :)

all down to hull profile, if it a full displacement (which I think it is but could be wrong) hull I\'d be looking 15hp, expect perhaps 8knots maybe, semi displacement, 40hp will get it going!

stick 40 on a displacement hull, it might do 10 or 11 knots, but.... you\'ll be looking at maybe 2 miles to the gallon if your lucky, several times that with a 15

I was gonna put a pic of the boat here but I havent a clue how?
(img) (img) to much for me?
Ive got a 9.9 hp motor I was told thats ample for this hull? I had same hull with a 20hp last yr it seemed excessive? and heavy too.

id go with mark and look for a 15 hp 4 stroke maybe,as your fuel economy will drain by putting a 40hp on a displacement.

Thanks for the feedback guys
Do you think that 10hp will be sufficient or do you think i need to get something a bit bigger?
I have seen a boat same dimensions as mine with a 7.5 and it seemed to go ok.
A lot of people are telling me 10s too small Im getting worried now lol

you\'d probably be ok with 10hp, ona 16foot displacement hull 6 to 8knots will be your top whack, but will just sip petrol..

my last boat was 15\' with a 40hp and I could burn 12 gallons in a day dead easy!

think about yachts... a 26 foot yacht will wiegh a couple of tons and is full displacement, a 6-8hp will shove it along at 6 or 7 knots,

only one way to find out though!

Cheers mate
Only one way to find out, that sounds about right? cheers lads
If Im still here to post how I get on It be a good un.
I\'ll be back...
