I use at the moment a new penn mag2 515 loaded with 15 lb Berkley mono and a 50lb spectra braid shock leader.
this set up is just to see how it works mono and braid no probes up till now.
other reels in use fathom 15 Berkley 25 lb main line 60lb mono shock leader
penn mag2 525 loaded Berkley 25 and 60lbmono shock leader. slosh 20 25lb main line 60lb mono shock leader.
the reason you use a shock leader is to minimize crack off when casting
even an over head thump can crack off best to be safe at the end of the day

20lb too thin for beach/riverpretty good gear that sensor,would of thought 20lb with a shockleader would be ample for beach/river use.When your start stepping up to 30lb/40lb mainlines they are normally for ruff ground/kelp fishing n not general beach use.
Plenty of good mono's about these day's,blue marlin,suffix,asso,veal's varivas are all tried n tested mono's.All the best with it pal

To answer your question Sufix Tritanium, it is the best for abrasion resistance and is very strong. It can be a bit stretchy when pulling for a break. I use 0.45mm and have never had any problems.

I prefer Ultima Power Plus, 20 ,25, or 30lbs. Its thinner than and as strong as big game.

See if you can get some Stren Stamina in 25 lb ,really strong line ,takes some beating ,the high viz gold stuff is quality.

Just normal overhead casting, anyway anyone else got any other recommendations on which line other than what is posted.

You'r risking it though, overhead or othe5rwise.
It only takes a bit of chaffing on the line and it weakens considerably.

Got to agree with braid of at least 50lb for security on casting and line diameter. It also comes out of tangles much easier since it doesn't stretch into itself in a birds nest.

Yep. I use .35mm (15lb - 19lb depending on brand) plus an 80lb mono shockleader (though 60lb will do, I prefer the extra security of 80lb for pendulum casting) for almost all my beach and river fishing. Rarely any need to go stronger unless fishing the rougher beaches.

As already noted you won't go far wrong with the Suffix Tritanium and leader knots are a doddle to learn

for mono dint take any notice of the breaking strains. think diameter.

I like sensor , using the range between 20lb and 35lb. NO LESS THAN 80LB SHOCKER

remember to match the hook pull out ratio to the line breaking strain. unless cliff top fishing this rule doesn't go sometimes

if it was more available suffix would also be in my box.

toying with a fixed spool braider at the min, although i hate them they are better at one thing. -- and that's getting a cod through a snag at long range.
apart from that am still not convinced.
however a spare braided fixed spooler in the box gives me more options
