When the whiting and cod bugger off what can be fished for in the sea, none of these river marks...will it just be flatty fishing until the summer species start to show?

The plaice will be arriving in March, as will be a spring run of codling. There should be a few pollock around the kelp covered rocks. There will be bass to target with surface lures etc: as the days get warmer and some nice sunshine. By May, there will be a few mackerel showing, so chin up, it's not all doom and gloom till summer.

Ah thanks mate until last year i just chucked bait out and hoped for the best now i realistically target what im after with some success but was unsure about now till summer time..how early on average do the pollock come in id like to try for a few of them this year done my homework about fishing for them like

End of march start at the Allotment - a few trips out Fly fishing - Couple of Mackie bashing trips and out with the Metal Detecter, so thats my summer sorted.

john.

Will switch over to coarse fishing (can highly recommend the WACAC) with the odd bit of fly fishing thrown in till the winter starts drawing in again.

I would say the early spring for the pollock, but have caught the odd one all the year round. But as suggested, a day license and a trip to a reservoir also a good way to enjoy the spring time, either fly fishing or ledgering or float fishing for trout will give you a great "fix" till summer.
