Red gurnard off the boat a few year ago from amble
you would be surprised how many greys come of the 44 mark on shields during the summer months ,i had about 6 while fishing for plaice. Now that is a reare and unexpected catch. I've had a few Red Mullet (not actually a member of the Mullet family, more properly known as a Goatfish) out of the Solent when I lived in Portsmouth but even on the south coast they are a very rare catch being a warm water species more commonly seen in the Med.
I had that Turbot on Sunday but mine would have to be this little Grey Gurnard I caught on Seaham North pier a couple of years ago:

My weirdest fish is a Torsk just over 3lb.Quite a rare fish to be caught in shallow inshore waters.
Taken from the wash end of the South pier in the 80,s.
Its now in a jar in Sunderland museum.
Torsk
Had a Haddock out of the Tyne up at Jarrow pedestrian tunnel about 6yrs ago. And a nice size Doggy off the Walkway a couple weeks ago.
I saw a bream caught off that outfall around 1993/1994, couldn't tell you what type it was though other than it had us puzzled at first. My mate had a Gilthead Bream off the hot water outfall at Cambois in the 1980's sometime. It is now in Hancock museum as the only other one caught locally was at Newbiggin in a net around 1900 if I remember correctly!
The most bizarre thing about that fish was we were talking about Haddock about 2 minutes before you caught it!!!
mine would be two Spurdogs in one session on the Blast Beach in the early 80's also had the odd Octopus,Tadpole Fish,Shad and Corkwing Wrasse over recent years.
had a few of them of the blast myself, and a small type of small shark all so of hendon but what type
cracking made me LOLI once caught a red backed fanny pad
