what type of fishing are these used for i found a couple of old moulds in the washhouse these are about 5-6 ounces in weight im assuming they the same as what the watch weight purposes do to give ya wieght a slight movement in the tide pull any idea lads

one on the right had a anchor type on it but mould didnt fill with lead run out before it filled lol

there was weights like that in the books i used to read about 10 years ago but i haven't got a clue why or when they would be used. :confused::confused:
 
You could get the star shaped ones in the 70's along with the round ones with a hole in the middle and sort of moulded studs around the ring. These were classed as "gripper" weights and supposedly didn't move as much in a rip. I would imagine the anchor style was marketed much the same although I've never seen one. Gradually the much simpler and more effective grip wires took over especially as the wires became moveable, whereas they were solid when they first came out.
 
There not for fishing , they are for putting on small chains and swinging them at the heads at people who keep beating us at fishing comps LMAO:) , Saying that is there any comps on soon...
