Did anyone actually watch the England - Russia game?

What went wrong?

I was listening to 5 Live up until Rooneys Goal, but then I was at Uni' tonight so I missed the rest....

nowt went wrong as far as I could tell, we were just our usually mediocre selves

rooney and owen?? - never seems to work well when they are played together

What went wrong?

We turned up mate!!!

Had them on the rack for 60 mins and dropped deeper and deeper back till we were nearly all in the box! Rooney was in the left back position when he gave the free kick (penalty) away! To many players not playin well for me.

Rooney/Owen dosnt work. Owen seemed to be playing as the big man up front trying to win headers for Rooney to run onto. Worked for the goal but that was the only time it did. Gerrard had his worst game for us. Why cant keepers CATCH a ball nowadays. Cant remember Shilton palming balls back out into the box.
The only good thing that can come out of this is McClarren wont be around much longer

Peter Shilton (source: FA.com)
" ‘Shilts’ was a brilliant shot-stopper who bossed his area and was renowned for his dedication to training. In his 125 games between the sticks, England won 66 times, conceded only 80 goals, and he kept a record 65 clean sheets. "

says it all...of course that was also back in the day when Monster Munch were much bigger too...but that's another thread altogether ;):D

Got out of bed early over here to watch that debacle, wish i hadn't bothered! Didn't play too badly really though, knew it was over when second choice Steve made the triple substitution of Crouch, Downing and Lampard! Gerrard should of scored early in second half and that would of killed it!

just like watching boro again a few seasons ago. Mclaren does not have a clue when the backs are against the wall - we only got to the euro final because of a fluke decission to field 3/4 strikers when loosing.

the national team are going the same way we did.

what went wrong, didnt see it but i bet it was a case of over paid, under skilled, pampered players who have everything taking on a bunch of practically amatuer players who are playing if their life depended on it.

england are crap, easy answer, or could they be newcastle in disguise, plenty talent but cant transfer it onto the pitch and there bottle goes at important matches, they blame everything but themselves on failure and if a new manager does not bring instant success they sack him and bring in another nonentity
