What's doing the damage?

What's doing the damage in the way of catching fish off the boat. I'm out on Sunday first outing this year, just wondering if anyone can let me know what's catching eg rippers? Shads? Crab?
I'm not a one for baited daylights aswell.

Tides are still big

Simple answer to the question: Shads and fresh mackerel

Shads. Try 4 inch shads (white, blue or red)

Alternatively on the same setup, instead of a shad a nice mackerel stripe either on a 6/0 hook/panel or on a treble

Shad more likely to catch cod, mack more likely to catch ling

Hokkais, feather, daylights are at times hard to get to the seabed past the mackerels

Nearly all the fish yesterday were on daylights baited with fresh mackerel or simply mussel on a bare hook. This has been the case for the last six weeks.

Lots of sandeel in water at moment. Baited hockeyes with worm seemed to do well. I used shads and got one out of craster. Had two on red tail jelly worms.
