Been a strange week for the amateur forecaster...

Webcam has a nice surf on at Tynemouth

Surf Report has 12ft Seas coming our way

XC Weather has medium strength westerlies which should knock it off (possibly) but Aberdeen has hoolie winds in a NNW direction

So anyone been down the beach walking the dog and able to say what it's actually like?

Well it was just after low water when i was down there earlier so it looks worse than it is.
If you look further out to sea which i have done with the binocs its nowhere near as bad, im pretty sure sunday will be very fishable.

the decision can only be made on the day :) :) sorry about the lie in tone ........ but you may get an early return to bed reprieve .... But I hope not ! :)

Good luck in the morning Lads. I will be thinking of you around 10 when I am tucking into a huge fried breakfast :D

Had a tough week and looking forward to a much needed lie in :)

Hoping for a good catch report

Jonny:)

I fished Whitley beach this afternoon, small tides, so the only place fishable was the north end of the beach from 3-30pm. there were big rollers breaking up to 3/4s of a mile out from St, Mary's, and to the south, they were breaking at least level with the end of Tynemouth pier, and that was at half tide. A move to the north corner of Tynemouth beach was only slightly better. I saw one of the large ferries exit the Tyne and it was heaving and hoeing a bit, as were the two ships lying off the tyne, so unless the wind is light, it could be a little naughty out there.

After having a look down at St Mary's just beofre it got dark, I agree with you. I think tomorrow is more likely to be one of the first beach sessions of the season than one of the last boat sessions. We'll wait and see though, if the wind drops and leaves a long smooth swell it could be OK.

I was out on Red 5 from Sunderland today (SAT), went out 5 miles but could not hold bottom, come into rough ground but water was to coloured only 5 mackerel caught.
