Been getting pestered by santa so need to get a few things on the list by this weekend. So, can you fellas advise what's the best headlight out there at the moment?

I'm not looking for bulky, it must be bright and the battery needs to last a whole session, can't be doing with this changing the battery in the dark business.

Help much appreciated, cheers lads

Just bought a fenixhp11, the beam is unbelievable.

So id say its between that and a h14.

Either way you wont be disappointed

It's the princeton tech for me...bombproof. I use asda rechargables AA 2500mah about £7 for 4 batteries. The four leds at either side of the main beam are ample to light your rod up on a full session and the batteries will easily last all night when the light is kept permanently on.

I use the main beam which is bright enough for fishing when walking over rocks or landing fish as this does use up your batteries within 3hrs when left on. No matter what light you buy always take a spare set of batteries with you as a back up and a cheapo lamp from argos or asda to pull you out of the proverbial.

Might be a ridiculous question but do you get the charger with them or have to buy separate :)

Princeton tech for me and have to say I have used the warranty when one of the led failed, they sent me a new unit before I sent mine back so didn't miss any fishing, I was well impressed and I'm not easily impressed lol

Hi safc, I use a cheap charger for my batteries to, the Energizer Compact Charger, think it was about a tenner from Argos. It takes about 18 hrs for a full charge. There are expensive chargers on the market that charge up in a couple of hours but this one does me!

Don't think princeton do a charger but I could be wrong.

Princeton for me. Had a Tiga which I found the battery was too heavy for pensioners like me. Princeton has ample light for me and 2800mhrs batteries last ages.

Just bought a Cree 3800 lumens it has three settings although one is like a strobe effect a smaller beam for baiting up and a main beam that you could get mixed up with a lighthouse.it is rechargeable.cost £43 from Japan.when ive given it a good few outings ill let you all know the results.Ialso have a Tiga SL85 which is excellent and much lighter than the SL12.

Another Princeton apex advocate here although the cheap 1200-1800 Lumen Cree headlights on ebay from China now are SERIOUSLY bright.I have a couple as back ups and was lighting up marks below 150ft cliffs last week as though I was only 10 ft away.for 30-45 quid you get 2 rechargeable batteries a charger and a case to hold 3 x AAA batteries.only problem is they take 6-8 weeks.to.arrive usually.have a look at item 221165176187 on ebay.these are the boyo's!
