Got one last night at Cullercoates about 10 inches long, its the biggest grannyfish i've had, horrible looking things reminds me of the mother in law

Granny fish or dragonet

definatelly a sea scorpion known locally as a bullhead.

there spines arnt sharp, so can be held carefully with a rag. if you hold them inside a rag you will feel them .... buzzzz.

a dragonet is a totally different fish. very long and thin, a summer visitor.

As long as you hold them carefully there is nothing to fear. I used to see a lot of lads stamp on them and then rive the hooks out, saying they were poisonous. They are not and there is no need for such harsh treatment.

i got one off blyth last year and some guy offered to take it off the hook, then proceeded to stamp on it through the boards. even tho it was too big to fit. i was like, is there any ****in need? just hoy it back. its people like them and people who throw rubbish in the sea that **** me right off.

I think they real pretty!
Used to pull loads out when you could fish behind the tanks at hendon! Some are really colourful. Are the males brighter than females?
