Whats your best ever fishing session

Was thinking about fishing sessions the other day and Ive had a few :) and trying to think what my best session has been and would say my best ever session would have to be a morning on cambois rocks about three years ago, seemed to catch the back end of a northerly just right .. had been at work on shifts for the three days previous and gutted I had missed the big seas but as I said it was just dropping off nicely as I climbed down the ladders... wasn't able to get fresh bait for it but did have loads of runnydown so that was the only bait I had with me ... the sun was just coming up low water was about 7amish and fished from whale rock... first chuck and as soon as it hit the water rod started going and pulled one in bout three pound :) second chuck rod went again and lost it close in (adrenaline was going by now)... third chuck and again the rod went and got one about four pound .. went quiet for a spell then seen a guy come down the steps ..the rod went again and got another about the three pound mark ..he said champion lol as he scrambled to get his gear out ...not another fish was caught lol ...not the most productive session Ive ever had but memorable I think because I had caught it nicely and wasn't expecting too much without fresh bait!!!
 
Best session i ever had was this summer in july at chapel point in linconshire

i had 25 smoothounds in a 10 hours session
best went 12lb 2oz, but most where around the 8lb mark

mine would have to be a 2 hour session on roker ,which the night before me and a couple of others was suppose to fish pegged match down hendon prom ,but the time and tide wasnt right for us would of been fishing on the beach ,hitting down with rain and wind blowing like mad. so decided a hours or so somewhere else and unsuccesful night too. so what bait i had from that night i kept for next day.30th december night i planned a couple of hours to get out the house , so roker pier was the venue and get down for just before low water arrived at 7pm set up just before the round head, whiting first chuck , second cast decided to move up on top the roundhead loaded pennel rig up with half a dozen bulmer babies lol . casted from left side around 70 yards, before i knew it me rod was banging away ,struck as i knew it was on took 5 mins to reel to the top ,very nice surprise ,as i didnt trust the chewed on hook snood mono from crabs i took it round to the stairs and brought it up ,wieghed in at around 6.5lb+ felt bigger and better .but who can argue with a cheap set of ebay scales lol ,couple more casts later nothing much else so gave what bait was left to bloke on the end ,left at 9pm headed for home

Fishing aboard Chieftain of Whitby in the central north sea last year, it was literally a double shot of cod every drop (in most cases the pirk never had time to reach the bottom) cod averaging 6 - 30lb, 8hrs of hauling double shots of double figure cod through 300metres of water sharp took it's toll! I literally slept like a baby on the 12hr steam home.
 
blyth beach 1986 caught that many fish that year i lost count,lol best bag was over 36 in one session,two at a time at maggies burn:)

thats probs one of my best sessions that day aswell chris getting a good bag and a new pb of 12lb 2oz aswell
 
Don't mind posting this since the mark is long gone.

Think it would have been summer 1995, fishing off the outfall pipe from Blyth Power Station. Floating out a redgill using the flow of the pipe to carry it out until the reel was near empty then working it back in slowly. Was a light swell lifting the bright orange float up and down and without fail at least 75% of the takes were right on the top of the wave with the fish (Bass) leaping clear of the water. Was using a stupidly light 10' rod so each fish was amazing to play in and with the outflow current by hell it was a fight each time. Was one other lad on there that morning fishing, we got there just before sun-up and the fish were on from the word go. Must have been 30-40 fish (you stop counting when it's that insane hit after hit), released most, kept a few for the pan and yes I'll admit I kept a few for a local chinese restaurant (within reason, just 4 fish) - I wasn't working at the time and a few extra quid came in nice before christmas started to loom. Was just one of those days though, sun rising, barely a breeze, clear skies and fish throwing themselves at you.
Never seen the same since, had other good days there but not like that one, had bigger fish but never the numbers. Wouldn't care but the tide was a bit high at first so I bottled wading out for half an hour! lol.
 
Best day i had was fishing on Seaham north pier in May 2003, and 2 days before i was due to get married.Had many different species in what was a 10 hour session.
Things started off slowly then the bites came managed a couple small whities, then had a nice codling of around 3lbs, followed by a PB plaice for me of 2 and a half lbs loads more whities followed ,then started getting a few nice coalies towards top of the tide, so i decided to put me big rod down and pull out the light tackle.
Was hammering the coalies and whities, sometimes there was only a scrap of bait on the hook,but was still getting nailed as soon as i were hitting bottom.
I continued pulling whities and coalies in cast after cast untill i hooked into something alltogether more powerfull on my 10lb line, felt dead weight and not a lot of fight,thought it was gonna be another nice codling,but too my surprise when it surfaced was a dogfish of 3lbs.
I carried on fishing bringing whities in of a nice size till it started getting dark and eventually ran out of bait,i took the codling and half a dozen whities home for the wife, all the rest went back.
Was a truely amazing day for me and i reckon i had 50+ fish all in, something i'll never replicate again.

I had a similar sesson one day on here around the same year using a light carp rod and a spinner, was on the pipe on my own and had at least 30 bass in about 1.5 hours! was mental. Kep a few for the pan (well size ones) and returned the rest!
 
Best fishing session was a good few year ago at Sand Point before it was developed. I used to fish the high wall with a float, with crab or silvers as bait. In 4 hours over the top of the tide, I had 20 flounders out to 2lb along with about a dozen coalies - great sport on light gear.

Best Codling session is split between the 8 for 24lb I had from the South Pier at Sunderland, or the 5 for 24lb from Roker taken straight after the NESA match in Nov 2005. The fish weighed 2-10-0, 4-0-0, 5-9-0, 5-11-0 and 5-15-0. Heres a pic (sorry about the quality)

Davy i remember that night well and you told me before the comp started you were gonna shoot off straight after the comp to fish it lol how right you were :)

This was when i caught my PB Cod.- 30 years ago.
I also had another big fish on the same session. I remember a guy had reeled in my 7lb er for me and i hand lined it up the side.This was on the Heugh.
I had another cod of about 5lb next cast and i reeled this one in. The guy who had reeled in my 7lb er handlined the other fish and it fell off. I was gutted. Kept on chuntering about it until the guy threatend to throw my 7 lb er over the side as well.

I also remember my worst night fishing i had gone along to the pilot pier in Hartlepool and anglers were pulling in cod left right and centre. I cast out and my line went and went and went until it snapped at the reel and none was left. I was absolutly heartbroken. Bucket full king rag and no line,

That was the 70,s when i had nowt. No line meant no fishing.
 
One most memorable day for me was taking my then 7 year old to redcar . Casting out a spinner for him then letting him reel it in. Rod and reel were far too big for him but the look on his face when a mackrel hit it was priceless.

Even more priceless was the look on his mums face as he started being dragged towards the pier edge as the mackrel was hit by a seal. Grabbing his coat the seal soon bit the head off and he retrieved a head. I was in tears with laughing.

My most memorable boat trip was with Oblikta and Stephen from this site. We went to Lochaline but I was texted some co-ordinates for a mark on the firth of lorne. The sea was flat calm so we headed off to the mark about 18 miles away. On the way we filmed a basking shark and then dropped anchor and two baited rods. By the time my flask top was off the first rod went with a screaming run and the fish followed steadily all day after that one.

We finished the day early with 8 fish ...3 each for me and oblikta and two for stephen. This included a boat best fish of 205 lb caught by stephen which we could not lift aboard because we were so exhausted but tagged it and it was recaptured a month later so we know the weight and a personal best for me of 181 lb. We packed up early because we could not face reeling in another and later in the pub we worked out we had caught nearly 1200lb of fish in 6 hours for an average size approaching 150 lb each.

Which reminds me ...its time I went back there :D

fished longhoughton beach a few year ago after a big northerly.sea was massive the day before but was flat when we got up there (s**t), anyway first chuck i got one out 6ib 10 out then one just under 6 then an hour or so passed starting to get sick then wallop one at 7lb well chuffed, then some kids landed and asked did we have owt i said no but one noticed the fish in the bag.next thing lines and tangles everywhere so me and my pal shifted to fish the hole on the left side of the beach out the way.2nd chuck and tiny bite just left it went again left it then it slack lined me wound down then wallop fight on got it on the beach and it went 13lb 2oz.
all the fish were weighed when we got home cos we didnt have scales with us.
me and same lad were up and had 11 out between us and total weight was 57lb.
