credit where it's due great 3 points for the mackems, especially against fellow relegation strugglers

defoe is certainly theyre lucky charm and pretty much there only chance of survival

Hopefully they'll still go down as they just aren't good enough , but they are the experts in survival if nothing else, hopefully successive relegations will see them in the 3rd tier where they belong:D

Moyes was at saint james tonight was he checking out next seasons opponents (villa) or was he there just to see how to get 3 pts at home :D
is the internet down on wearside again  you lot have been very quite lately infact you have been silent

He will be going some to play villa next season mate, think they are relegation fodder as well! 1st division for that lot

With Newcastle likely going up, surely you'll want Sunderland to stay in the Prem?
Chance of redemption!
6 in a row was it...? That's going to take a long time to better and if yous don't meet again that's all the Sunderland fans will go on about mate, trust me.

When I used to work in the Sunderland office before the 6 in a row my mackem colleagues used to constantly bring up this ancient result from the 1900's when they apparently beat Newcastle 12-1 (or something)

I used to always think to myself...wow, how sad and desperate.
But now they really have something to shout about for the next 100 years ;)

well from what I seen on motd they put up a spirited effort in at the start of the second half but it was always going to be an uphill struggle after everton scored .they are showing signs of improvement but is it to little to late the clock is ticking and time is fast running out

Stand no chance of staying up with that midfield, feel sorry for Defoe, he got one half chance and almost scored, it must be so frustrating for him playing in front of that crap.

bet he is wishing he went to west ham now .I cant see pickford staying as soon as a big money offer is made he will be away he has been the player of the season for safc even out shining defoe .as much as they have been cr@p all season I still wouldnt bet on them pulling off the great escape again but if they do go down you can expect a load of grief from the mags

I've SUPPORTED (i.e. actually got to the games) since I was 11, I'm 50 this year AND I live in North Shields so it's water off a ducks back.

I have lots of mates who are genuine mags fans, they got no grief from me.

I've lost count of how many relegations I've suffered.

looks like another relegation on the cards keith:D:D, and the real possibility of being out of the top flight for many years to come, hopefully some kind of financial meltdown / complete collapse , successive relegations -third division football is a real possibility

fingers crossed:cool:

If your not a boy what are you?
Because you know -uck all about football.
Watched sheff wed show You's lot how to go on last night.keep looking over your shoulders because the pack are closing on the mags who only just beat Burton. mclaren on a 9 match unbeaten run,as I said at the start, the championship is a tough league to crack, and as stats show your massive club have lost 6 already,2009/2010 season hughton lost 4 all season with a much stronger team, west brom lost 7 and went up runners up hope this hasn't spoilt your Christmas ant.
alright buddy boy you have been silent for a long time now do you still reckon we wont be going up this season ?? we have nine games left 3 points clear and just beat brighton and huddersfield our biggest rivals for automatic promotion and a good away draw last night to reading .Raffa has got the whole team playing well and we are looking good at the top. Hows things working out for your lot a few spirited displays but still no cigar still reckon your lot will avoid the drop ? looks like my prediction at the start of the season is just about right and I know nothing about football

Cant believe this thread s still going, could sum up both teams very simple.

Both nothing more than fodder to make the numbers up for the PL, its sad but true, best they can hope for is to stay or make it up to the top flight depending how bad the previous season went.

I am a Newcastle fan and happy we "should" be promoted but unless we get purchased by someone crazy oil rich company we will be lucky to stay out the bottom 8 all season.

Same goes for Sunderland, they look down and no great escape this time but they should have the cash to go back up the following year. Like Newcastle if they do go back up they will be battling in the bottom half unless purchased.

Top teams get richer and everyone else picks up the scraps, unless you are a top 6 team in this country you don't have much league wise to look forward too, cup runs help but often just cause more pain in the league. Guess that's why I dont bother with footie really our days.

Good job the boating season starts this weekend for me :)

I think Sunderland are down this year, First time I've said this since just before Poyet pulled off a miracle.

Bas start to the season losing big Sam, Moyes trying to build his own team, lack of effort from Kone, Khazri (star last season) not getting a start, Kirchoff injured, not signing loan player Mvila, Borini underperforming. The list is endless.
But the key was Januarrys transfer window, Was terrible!

Looks like we are going to break the mould of, Poor start to the season, replace the manager, beat Newcastle, take a thrashing off a team, just survive....then repeat!
I do believe even a new manager wouldn't keep us up this season.

Your problem is that Newcastle are not in the equation this season. Those 6 points you have been taking recently would go a long way to getting you out of trouble.
