Where do people fish in strong N/E winds???

I went out last night to steetley jetty but the wind spoilt it seen a few waves come over the Heugh so that was a no no. Where do people fish that gives a bit of shelter from the wind? is it possible to be sheltered from a N/E blow?

Dont really fish down your way Adam but Runswick Bay is a good bet in a strong N/NE wind I've found. Other places with the wind almost behind you would be the north side of the Tyne and the Wear (fish quay, smiths, glass house, rat house etc)

The red light on the headland would probs be good to fish in a strong ne down there as should be sheltered bud and can produce

Adam the Middleton is good. Also very good is the red light and if you really want to keep out of everyones way try the banjo.

Thanks for the info lads, I've never had any luck tho fishing middleton pier, I have also been told it only produces in a S/E wind???

But in N/E winds the sea will never be too rough at middleton as it's sheltered by the Heugh

i think you may find that is not quite true, whilst it is certainly not as dangerous as the heugh in a big sea [that's why the heugh is called a breakwater ]i have still seen it awash when there is a big NE blow, fishes much better when you have a good SE blow .

ive had some good fishing from middleton in recent seasons whewn the huegh is unfisable especially with a big ne but seems better after a good se been on the middleton and been soaked a few times by some of those big breakers
