I have got a old diawa whiskar kevlar
when you push the 2 poles together they virtually touch at the joint (if that makes sense)
It works and holds fine but think it might be best to try build it up before it gets beyond repair
does anyone know if any of the local tackle shops sell the spray that you build up slowly?

I might have some .ill look if your local and you can have it

where you from mate

i am in Sunderland mate
I did see the candle trick when i googled how to repair them
But i really like the rod so wouldnt mind spending a few quid to do a more permanent repair
But if you guys think candle wax is going to do the same sort of job i will just go with that

I have a can sitting under the sink
Do you just build it up slowly like the carbon spray?

Yes just very very light coats mask off about a foot above the spigot stop the paint going on the blank then very light coats twist the rod as your spraying to keep it even then let that coat dry if you have some scotchbrite give that coat a light key when dry.dust off then next light coat etc till you think its done one thing I will say is dont keep trying in the rod as you'll just pull the paint straight off give it a couple of days to harden right off.

I just use a candle , it works well sorted my carp rod out , it only takes seconds and can be repeated when ever, my lure rod gets a lot of use so use a thin coating to prolong the life and protect the spigot

if you do a search on google for maver spray this is what you need ,candle wax builds up inside and burrs up and can make a joint very hard to seperate.

hi mate, you can try candles and carbon and graphite sprays but eventually the spigot will wear down again and become slack.
the best thing to do imo is to cut a quarter inch slice off the female half of the rod, probably the top half. wrap a bit tape round it quarter of an inch from the end so that you get a straight cut and cut off a slice with a hacksaw and sand the burrs off

Or you could just spray it and when the carbon wears off you spray it again

I wouldn't cut my rod that's for sure

if your going to cut rod make sure its the female end not the male end as it will make it even worse also candle wax will make your rod stick together in winter a aerosol spray can will be better i got mine done by a expert on here the joint spray is rubbish
