I was thinking of the prom that leads to St Mary's lighthouse any thoughts on that?

I was thinking of the pier myself as long as theres no lumps coming over the top. If all else fails the rubber factory....

It looks a bit to rough for the beaches to me, the river will be full of run water, first gate might be ok over high

When I was at the Haven car park Monday at high water, there were no waves at all coming over Tynemouth pier, as the wind was straight easterly.

Not actually true, you can fish the call center at Brighams in an easterly. The buildings face due west towards the river so in an easterly you can fish with the building behind you for shelter.
