Given the following:

  • Venue = Blyth Beach
  • Conditions = Flat seas
How would you tackle the venue IE tactics, and which area would you chose to fish?

Given the flat sea I would target flatties at Seaton Sluice beach with light tackle. There's a nice little channel that has formed which flatties will be feeding in when covered with water. I walked along it last week with the doggies after the big tides and there was a few dead flounders which must have been left behind after the big ebb

As Graham says, try the Sluice but only at high water. You will need to look before you go, at low water and find out where the gullies and deeper channels are, find a mark and remember it and just fish with light gear, enjoy.

It will be 2hrs either side of low water so i'm fishing....................................see you there mate. My tactics are simple at the mo.....chuck some bait on a hook, hoy it in and PRAY!! nowt else is workin for me.

Lol Tony, in that case I would try the north end. Just keep the casts short and keep trying different distances.

Failing that, have a drive up to Cambois beach and fish between the Vald Birn factory and the mouth of the river. Plenty of small fish holding gullies up there just have a bit rove about and you should get plenty of action. No need to cast more than about 60 or 70 yards maximum but the flatties will probably be closer in.

hmmm... slight swell(about 1ft) no wind(1mph) and i'm not much of a beach man anyway!! so i guess i'd be heading for the pier of the rock at seaton!

Lol lads. It looks like it's going to be one of those sessions where no-one knows where to fish. I've got my spot if the sea picks up a little or another if it doesn't. Does that help you lol. See you friday lads

Just been down at Blyth, almost flat the sea.
Could have been a summers day.
Looked like a few more rollers at the Sluice but still now't great.

Going for one of them conger that's been seen by the divers round Blyth? Good luck. Looks like we all might be on the pier unless it picks up a little more
