Yes same way Graham, thou i use a little slower wind with the twin tail than the shad but thats just me...at a cost of only 27p each you dont mind snagging up as much 
which shads should I get!

I used a french wire boom with a very short (1foot) trace a few times and found no less a take rate...like I've said before I'm not convinced that you need an uber long trace at times

On the wrecks where you have to get down to 150 ft or more they have to be fished on a trace from a lead big enough to hold bottom , but on the hard ground in 35ft of water I love to fish a twintail tied direct to the line with as small a leadhead a i can get away with to get it down , it's far more enjoyable fighting just the fish than 6oz of lead as well. Caught my very first ling on an orange twin tail fished this way over Cresswell Skeres

Yes i did but on the "Day of the cod" so i guess it does not count as 3 at a time everytime for 3 hours.

I dont use any booms, just tie the line onto a 3 way...worked ok last 11 years
