White spirit good solvent especially if anyone used WD40 on the reel bearings but it is much slower to evaporate than lighter fuel which usually would be my first choice. To do a really deep clean you will also need to take off the bearing shield from one side of the bearing first. Good luck
Aerosol can of brake and clutch clearner from motor Discount shop. Give the bearing a blast each side pushes all the old crap out. Leave to drying on some tissue paper and re oil using some rocket fuel red or yellow or formula oil.
if the oil is thicker viscosity then allow more time for it to soak into the bearing past the shields. If its thin like the formula stuff its in there like swim wear and smooth running been using some in stainless steel abec 9's for abu 65 rocket for fishing.
