Whitley Bay 02/12/08

Fished Whitley last night. Got down around high tide at 6. Was a bit of a swell but it was dying. Started right at the north end of the prom near the little stream. Nowt happening at all so moved down to in front of the swimming club. Nothing for ages then a size whiting for me and a blank for me mate.

Was canny cold and snowy and both had work today so packed up about 10 ish and headed home to warm up. Would have liked to stay till lowtide.

Bait used: Lug, Razor and Mussel

PS. Got the feeling after a few trips that Whitley only really works about 3 hours down to low tide and a couple up. Is this the case?

Can anyone recommend any high tide marks north of the tyne to about Lynemouth that are work a shot on a weeknight when can't travel too far?

That's what I've found in my experience as well...

As to High Water Shots I'm still trying to figure that one out

King Edwards Bay Prom, Rex Hotel Prom, Boat Station, St Marys Prom...all these produce fish apparently...only fished King Eddies and St Marys a couple of times and have yet to catch owt

I tend to fish the river at High Water if I'm stuck (and feeling lazy)

When we left the top end of the beach we were thinking of thrying the prom round the front of whitley infront of the pubs, but were convinced by a bloke in the car park that the beach should still fish. Think it probably would have if we has stayed a bit longer but with work I cant pull late nighters too often.

High water..

I think the south end of Blyth Beach (the part they call Seaton Sluice Beach) can fish well at High Tide. I ve had whiting, small bass and flatties there in calm weather but, in a decent sea, I reckon its ok for codling too. On a largish tide there's usually a hole quite close in - perfect for overhead thumpers of about 50yards.

We thought about there too, problem we have is we both work no where near the sea through the day so can't have a look down at low water to find the holes. Will give Seaton a try next time.

you didnt miss much mate me and a friend fished the panamars from 8.30pm till 2 am i got one colie around 2lb and that was it
