Whitley Bay Club Open Competitions

Following the popularity of our open summer & winter leagues, we've decided to fish a "mini-open" in conjunction with our regular club comps. These will be open to any & everyone and fished on a match-by-match basis rather than a league. Entry is £5 and there'll be a 100% payout, split 50/50 for heaviest bag & fish.

The first of these will be fished on Mon 9th Feb. Sign up at Whitley Club HQ (behind the mini-golf, north end of the Links car park) from 6.45 - 7.15 & fishing from 7.30 - 11 pm. Boundaries are Peeping Tom rocks to Lloyds Jetty in the Tyne, excluding Blyth & Tynemouth piers. Weigh in from 11 - 11.30.

Hope to see a few of you there.

Gary :)

Sorry, it's more correctly Government Jetty, the one just downriver from the fish quay (at the end of the beach at the Middens). :)

Is the government Jetty, the old timber structure that used to be down river from the old lifeboat house, or is it the current life boat jetty. For clarification is the little beach between the timber jetty and the lifeboat station in or out of bounds?

Any chance of listing all the proposed dates (at least a few months in advance) so I can plan ahead (bait and pass outs etc)

So far only 2 further dates are confirmed - these are Weds 25 Feb and Weds 11 March, both fishing the same times as 9th Feb (most of our comps are fished 7.30 - 11 pm). The rest of future dates should be finalized shortly - we're working to try and avoid clashes with other clubs, eg Tynemouth, who usually fish the night before, 7 - 10.30.

As soon as I get the rest of the dates, I'll put them up.

Gary :)

Yes, you can fish the little beach between the jetties, up to but not on the jetty where the lifeboat ties up. :)

Just giving this a bump in case anyone fancies a bash tomorrow night - found out yesterday there's a Seaton Sluice match on tomorrow as well (for a Slosh I think!) so I know a few lads probably won't make it.

Gary :)
