whitley bay open

This is why i dont agree with H.Bag comps...so much wasted fish.

I bet the bin man had 18lb of wrasse to remove from the car park bin along with whiting, coalie, flounders and so on.

Its great having the comps as it brings anglers together and make fishing that more fun but alot of wasted fish.

leave it out mate, bet you would be over the moon with the cash in your pocket. why not be happy for the lad,lol if it is him,lol

Wrasse are great sport on the right tackle and dont deserve to be killed for money. There must be another way for matches to be judged.

I dont mind knocking a fish on the head for the pan but 18lb of wrasse for the bin is disgusting.

I bet they were hauled out the sea with a 12' poker.........is this sport?

The lad who caught them isn't to blame, if its in the rules......

Yer your right i would have killed them for the cash and cant take anyhting away from a great catch in poor conditions because lets face it thats why you fish them comps just making the point like oblickata that maybe in the future we can find new ways to fish comps and not kill unwanted fish or bass that take years before they sparn.

northeast, this must be the first open where I, the biggest scrounger around, came away without a fry up for my tea, there was not a fish left at the weigh in. Joe actually moved from where he had caught two wrasse as he wanted cod, then caught another four where he moved to, you cant tell what fish is going to pick your bait up, if he had stayed put he may well have caught more, no one knows.

Yeah, bet you are one of those people who on the one hand slam trawlers for taking/wasting undersize fish but curiously overlook waste by the shore angler. Killing fish just to weigh in is a hypocrisy.

The trawlerman catching all and wasting many for 'cash in his pocket' is as reprehensible as those anglers, clubs and institutions that invoke catch and kill ethos in competitions. The needless waste of flounder and wrasse stock (to say nothing of coalfish and eels) should make posters and advocates of the above double standard blush.

The lads complainin...
What would you have done released all fish and weighed in nothing? When there is big prize money to be won and another big comp under your belt.
6 fish is nothing in comparrison to what damage the trawlers do to our coastlines.

get this old thread off from 2007. totally confused me.

must be all the sangria, as am still in majorca,

thought the comp had already been fished ha ha:D:D
