Went to South Wilkies on Sunday night with Stewy007. Met at the rendezvous cafe at about 1630. We had the choice of spots on the beach and plummed for the north end of Panama/South Wilkies - canny sea running and the new rod required christening.
Anyway we met in the car park and Stewy007 locked his keys in his car! Good start eh - so he borrowed my car to collect his keys and I started fishing!
First chuck I got snagged big style and lost most of my line. There must be a gulley with a sharp rock edge out there! While I was re-lining Stewy007 turned up and set up. His first chuck he forgot to link his sinker on the rotton bottom and ended up launching the lead to Norway and freelining a nice bait about 3 yards out!
So we both prepared for our second chuck and away we went. 30 mins later nee bites - time to rebait. Again I got snapped - nee line left again!!!
Stewy007 was also snagged so he rived at it with his full body weight (all 91/2 stone wet though by the way) Next thing - crash, bang, wallop - Stewy007 on his back in the sea as his line snapped. Credit to him, he got up and pretended it was deliberate (after checking to see nobody was watching)Very British.....
By this time the beach was chocker and we decieded to move on to Tynemouth. New line and rigs at the ready we went for it. First chuck - crack off! marvelous........ Had enough, packed up and went home! should have realised that it was going to be one of those nights as soon as the keys got locked in the car.
For what its worth we were using mussel and lug cocktails and caught nowt.
