Well I took a chance and booked Monday and Tuesday off work - don't think I could have booked 2 better days weather wise for fishing!
So, Monday saw me, Pete and Graham heading out around 9 to a flat sea with a bit of mist (which lifted by 11am). We picked up some mackerel for bait then headed out to the wrecks. First 2 produced nothing which I must admit was dissapointing.
I decided to push a little further out and bingo! First drop produced a cod just short of 9lb for me and a new PB for Pete - a cod of 13lb!

We had a few more drifts but it went quiet, so off to another wreck which produced the odd decent fish

By this time the wind was getting up a little which made executing the drift somewhat difficult so we decided to head in and try the hard ground. To be blunt the ground was cr*p, only 2 cod to show - albeit the one Graham managed was 5lb but apart from that very poor.

Day 2 - today. With me desperate for a lie in we headed out around 1pm to what can only be described as an outstanding day and sea state, the water was gin clear and the amount of bird and marine activity close to the shore was incredible. Anyway, the fishing, after the poor show at the ground the day previously I decided to head straight out to the wrecks, we only has a 3-4 hour window so my plan was to try and hit plenty of wrecks until we found the fish. First 2 wrecks - nowt, wreck 3 bang! Fish every drift, starting with Will's PB of 9lb

Next drift bang! more fish...

We ended up with 10 keepers, all a decent stamp of fish averaging around 6lb. A fantastic day to be out and long may this weather continue! Fish were taken on pirks, twintails, hokkis and mackerel baits.
Until next time, tight lines....
