wind blasted roker pier

fished on the round end from 4pm till 9pm friday evening. mixed bag by all the lads on the end, some canny whities and the odd flattie. the best fish of the night where both lost on the lift by some other lads, a report of a big cod taken at the barrier and lost on the lift where doing the rounds, weight ranging anything from 16 -20 lbs. also a canny whitey was lost on the neck end due to a tangle i believe.
i can't believe their was'nt one single solitary coddy landed up'n'till i left, loads fishing, quality worms being drowned, loads a movement on the sea due to force 6-7 sou-easterlies. maybe's roker pier was'nt the best choice tonight in the conditions as i'd hoped. possibly hendon was the place to be.
p.s. are blow lug and yellow tails the same thing or a different type of lug from each other. it's just that i got some lug from fishing republic tonight and i only had to touch it and it literaly exploded all over the place (in me tea cup). never had it happen before

whities

whities

the whities are of a canny size. the lad next to me tonight got one perhaps of 1,5lbs. should of weighed it really, bad memory and speculation can put an extra 120% on a fish's real size, but joking aside, aye it was a canny fish.

i fished hendon yesterday morning only got a fat rockling mate had a coley was a good sea on too, i got some lug from fishing republic other week was very poor 3inch long and very few of them

I've had that too, couple of times I've needed some bait and the only place open was fishing republic. Their worms are pathetic, barely big enough to get on a 4/0 hook, I don't know who their digger is but surely it's causing damage to the worm beds taking worms that small, I mean some of them are barely 5cm long, and half of that is tail.

I get my worms from NETS in Grangetown when possible, never had a bad pack and they are quality worms.

yeah me too i get my razor and runny down from RIGS cos its a bit cheaper and my worms from NETS the ragworm are like snakes normally lol:)

i too get me bait from nets and have no complaints on quality or size. unfortuneatly he didnt have any yesterday when i phoned so i was left with no option. you want to see the price they want for yellow tails aswell, 20 worms for 7 quid.

I read in a mag donkeys years ago that you should check your worms before you leave the shop, if they go off on one then theyve got summick to hide, i used to get bait from S&A in shields and they used to be sorted infront of you so you knew what you were getting, regarding the size/weight of fish, i caught a 36cm whiting on monday and estimated it at around a pound and a bit, wrong! 13oz it was. i know for the next one i get....next year!
