Winter coat?

I'm after a winter jacket/coat for this season. I'm having trouble finding one. It needs to be warm, waterproof, preferably with chest hight handwarmer pockets and must have a hood. I'm not really bothered about price. Can anyone recommend anything?? I was looking at the titan smocks but unsure about how warm they are!

I agree with coco. I have a sundridge suit and when its snowing or raining its like being inside a heated tent when you put your hood up. It also has fleece lined pockets at your chest hieght which your hands can go into and keeps them warm.

get yourself a titan waterproof smock i have had one for a couple of years and cant fault it

if you dont do any walking then a floatation suit might suit but if you have to walk to marks then you will sweat like a pig whilst getting to and from your marks

Yes you do and when you do get to your mark and your all hot and sweaty
you will feel the cold when you stop.

Titan smock's are brill i have 2 as i have one for work in the winter:D

I'm not really after a full suit as I already have one, I'm just after the jacket, preferably to go over my waders. Are the titan smocks warm though? I've also looked at the Imax Squall smocks??

I'd go with Keith and alan (Primo) on this one. Greys waterproof all the way.
I've stood on the beach in -5 with a strong easterley and horizontal hail with mine on. Had a tee shirt on a jumper and a titan cotton smock on underneath and been warm as toast!!
They're very, very waterproof and keep the wind out fantastic. Plus if it's not raining you can put them into your box/bag and walk to your mark without the sweat.
I have a floaty and never wear it now as I find them very cumbersome (spelling..lol)

At the end of the day tho' go and try a few different things on as it's down to personal choice ;-)

Cheers

Tony

Greys waterproof smock or the jacket. Don't know if they still make the smock anymore though. I was told in the Greys shop in January that they had stopped making it so i bought a jacket. If i'm cold i wear their hooded fleece under it (fleece is mint on it's own, very warm and cosy)

Have got 2 floatation suits, a sunridge and a shakespear. Both great, lovely and warm and keep you very dry but they restrict my movement and you do sweat loads in them when walking around.

I have had the following if its any help

Titan waterproof smock - zips fall to bits and the hoods are designed wrong, you get a draught down the neck and the hoods dont cover the face fully.

Greys smock - fri**in freezin in the cold but nice and lightweight, waterproof but the water runs up the sleeves too easily, particularly if you hold your rod.

Daiwa coastal smock - the business, has a fantastic hood that wraps completely around the face and neck, it also has neoprene cuffs to keep out draughts and water. Also made of a very hardwearing material. Just make sure sure try one on for size. I had to get the xxl and im only a 42 chest but with long arms. Its my favourite coat when it gets really cold and you can even fish without a fleece underneath. Its a bit like a puffa jacket.

If its not too cold I would stick with the greys.

deflecting from Seans question slightly but I just use a High Vis' bomber jacket from B&Q...couple that with a good layer of thermals, hat and the fact you'll prob also be wearing your Waders AND carrying your kit to your mark - I was never cold once last year...in fact i was very often geet hot :o:D

...but as to smocks/coats, I've got my eye on the Titan ones ;)

I've had the Sundridge storm beach for a couple of years now ,not the floatation suit ,just the thermal waterproof jacket ,it's canny long and warm with a good hood ,tight wrist grips inside to stop the water running down your arms while holding your rod .

I've spoke about Titan gear before, It's probs still there if you wanna search.

I'd have titan clothing pre titantex anyday but not so sure now.
