Just a observation I've mate over the past few years. I've found the fished in October and November is prolific, and drops right off in December and January. Is it just me our has anyone else found this ?

I've only just started off again after 20 years or so away but last year had more success earlier in the season and then done ok by my standards this October up to later November. Last couple of sessions were blanks but hopefully they were a combination of bad conditions and the wrong venues.

Not a very scientific contribution from me!

Certainly plenty of sport in the oct and nov mate. My own fishing usually tails off a bit after that untill the spring to be honest. Anyway, I've had my best codling this year in the summer whilst chasing plaice so just goes to show! :D

done well for codling this october, not had a great lot since then get the right conditions and they will be in, had some big bags in march the last couple of seasons

You're starting too late mate! - good bags of codlings from Whitley beach this year from the middle of august into september Agree though it's gone dead since it's been flat, but with the sea (hopefully) coming away this weekend, they'll no doubt be back!

Gary :)

Eyemouth and st abbs were still fishing their knackers off in August and sept! No need to start chasing the coddies :-) but as Gary says, loads of codling around this summer. Bagged at least one keeper every plaice fishing session this year on SSP lol. It's always good fun codling bashing in a pair of shorts instead of a floaty and wellies lol

Exactly, I've said this for years now, once you get into the middle of November the Cod just about disappear.
Even when the seas lift, there's still very little gets caught, I normally fish over the xmas period, then I start to lose interest in January, and normally put my rod away.

Surley your putting your gear away early tony there's been plenty of green showing when the conditions have been right in the river and on shore what I will add as soon as the sea flaterns the green move off the shore/pier marks but the tyne has been fishing really well in my opinion.

Never really thought about it...but now that I do, my better fish over the years have came pre-xmas, including a PB cod this year in October
