Witton Castle (Wed 23rd March) Report

Me and my Farther enjoyed a rare outing together however after a heavy Tuesday night frost followed by bright sun, blue sky, ultra clear water and no wind, yesterday had the makings of a terrible day for Fly Fishing.

Luckily the Witton fish never read the script and they were on true form as always.

Things got off to a flying start with a fish on my first chuck to the blood worm. We both continued to get takes but they were very tentative.

We moved onto the West lake and there we had our fun, a huge buzzer hatch occurred early morning that had fish rising everywhere, on went a couple of size 14 blackstone buzzers the fish obliged.

I managed to land 15 to 4lb & my Dad managed about 8 to 5lb.

We lost as many (if not more) and had fish on then off all day!

Cracking day, no frost bite, more like sun stroke (my face is like a radish today)

Overall another cracking day considering it gets stocked on Fridays!

Cheers

Thanks chaps!

In my opinion Spring is normally the best time to go stillwater trouting, hopefully the next couple of months or so will have more good days,
