We managed to squeeze in a quick session after work last night, just me and Mark giving him a chance to take his mind off A-level results day.

He skipperd as usual, leaving me to sit back and enjoy the ride while he steered for a couple of close-in wrecks which proved quiet. Turning in to the rough ground at Cullercoats proved to be a good move and we found a steady stream of coddling. By this time the wind was dropping and conditions turning into a very pleasant summer's evening. Mark was doing well but couldn't quite keep up with his old Dad, :) I pulled out a 5 pounder that was looking hard to beat.

With the engine off, we had a mega-drift all the way from Cullercoats up to St Mary's can where the fishing like the weather just got better and better until we ran out of bait and light. When we were down to the last two or three frozen lug, he lifted this one out shortly followed by a cracking spell of a fish a minute.

Mark's bigger fish

Back it goes, just like all the other fish of the night.

Not all the fish were as big :)

Home time as the sun sets on our little fishing adventure; in more ways than one as with today's results he's getting ready to leave for Uni. I'll soon be short of my son and little mate - until the next holidays.

Good job the hard ground produce fish when the wrecks struggle Kevin. Ha! Never count your chickens:D Mark still got one over "dad" in the dying minutes. Good report and photo's.

Nice one Kev great report and pictures, yeah sometimes it great just to relax inshore on a long drift, without the calls of "round again" every few minutes :)

Cheers
