Wor Lass 22nd Aug

At last after too long ashore the forecasts were variable for this afternoon but all agreed that it would be calm seas, offshore winds and warm. Perfect for a half day off work to go fishing.
The ones forecasting strong winds had it right, with whitecaps being knocked off the tops of a nasty, short chop and pushing a fast drift. Rain water had turned the river a mucky brown and covered some of the inshore wrecks. Further out the sea was lively and the drift far too fast.

Sheltering close in to drift over the hard ground brought the usual interest from small codling up to 3 pounds taking lugworm baited lures. Catch rates increased with the tide until the bait ran out, by which time the wind was dropping nicely.
They’re still out there, go get ‘em.

A wet ride to seek shelter inshore.
