the original question was
"would you say Lionel Messi is the worlds best ever player"
I have stated my "OPINION" as to why I don't think he is?
Purely looking at the 2014 WC
I have stated why I don't think he was the best player at this years world cup, and off the top of my head came up with two names who I "THINK" deserve it more.
RODRIGUEZ scored more goals and made more assists than Messi, playing TWO games less, and in a worse side.
Muller, same amount of games as Messi, more goals and more assists against arguably better opposition, and went on to lift the WC.
I could trawl through stats all day, but even a blind man could see that Messi didn't deserve to be given "player of the tournament". You are in a very small minority of people that think he deserved it like.
Messi has been at the top of his game for years at Barca, but has been "poor" by his own high standards this season, and also in the world cup.
He also has never played outside of Barca, a team that was basically built around him with some of the best players available.
So that is the reason that in my "OPINION" he isn't the best player the world has seen.

Plus for stats before the final he had ran over 2000 yards less than the rest of his team mates. He is lazy and expects the ball to come to him, the final he beat players yes but did not create any chances as his delivery was poor. The biggest thing I think about messi is the referees tend to protect him, for all he doesn't dive and doesn't try and get booked he does get a lot of free kicks that were touch and go.

So what if he has never played outside of Barcelona, Loads of players have spent there carreers at 1 single club look at Giggs and as said your'e only as good as a team around you i'm damn sure no player would flourish in a team of poor players, People mention Ronaldo..he was at Barcelona with some great players and he didn't do half as much as Messi has done there

Yes, I thought it would have something to do with a marketing ploy.
Still he had a good tournament, just disappointing by his ridiculously high standards...that said, still would not have gave him the golden ball no way.

They have opinions the same as we do, Just because he is FIFA president doesnt make his opinion anymore valid than anyone elses, 15 people decided he was the best in the tournament and there will always be conflicts of opinion no matter who won it.
I dont think Rodriguez will complain about it after getting the golden boot
