Worm digging advice

Hi guys , thinking about digging my own worms , but dont really have a clue . Is it as easy as finding the little piles of sand and then digging ? How deep are they ? I dont want hundreds just enough for a few hours every week . Probably less hassle to buy couple packets ,but think i will enjoy it as part of the whole fishing experience . Cheers guys

In my own experience best way to dig them is to dig generally 2 forks wide 2 forks deep. Digging a trench working backwards. Lug worm arnt generally any deeper unless you dig blacks/yellow tails they can be almost anything from 3-5 forks deep in some cases. Hope this helps.
