Well if the tital does not give it away it\'s the worst summer season i have known from the shore. Poor start with next to no colie and sandeel then the winds come and the mackerel go..well thats if you can say they even made it in good numbers off the pier.
Had a look down shileds just before and the tide line is about 500 yards out..so no point in fishing with lures :(...1 word CRAP.

got to agree these last 2 weeks have been hell, bout all ive caught is cold along with seaweed, blyth week before last hail in summer :o whatever next snow ?still god loves a tryer so ill keep trying ;)

Germany had it\'s coldest day on record for this time of year on sunday, they also had snow over the weekend..and they say the earth is doing fine :(

richy
the season wont start until the schools are out and the pier is chocker block with sounds of

have you got a spare spinner mister ?

how far you casting ?

can i have that mackerel ?

can you land me 20 p for my bus fare ?

thats when it starts richy
hahaha

the same would apply on roker pier except that they don\'t go to school, and the 20p would probably be for another tube of bostik

don\'t you know we had our good summer last year so we\'re not allowed another one \'til sometime in the 2010\'s! You want it all, just like my kids. Been out tonight and I\'ve been warmer cod fishing than this.

Just looked at the forecast and it looks like more of the same right through into next week. Roll on 2005!!!

It\'s really strange the kids are already on school hols here and yes there are a few fishing for the mackerel but nothing like south shields pier, most are fishing all year round not just out for the mackerel.

And as for the weather we\'re lucky it doesn\'t matter if there is a 2 metre swell or it\'s flat calm the macky are still there. The only thing that sends them back out is low water with the river Thurso in spate as it gets drawn around the head-land, but that\'s ok as it gives me an excuse to go fly fishing for trout on the Thurso :D
