Was in Frasers today buying myself a birthday gift when I saw this rod in the rack...

£7.99 :o

I asked John if anyone had ever bought one and what was it used for? He then produced a picture of a bloke that had caught Cod on one :o:o

So I ask you...would you buy one?

It seems very stiff (but then it is only 2.5ft long) I'm guessing it's a jerkbait type rod...

Too right I would, I was looking at them a while back but was in no condition to use one. It would be just as much fun off a pier fishing for Mackerel lol.

Jim.

Also ideal for keeping the kids in check as I find it difficult to swing a longer rod indoors ....... just kidding social workers ;):D

you're doing it all wrong man! a reducer with a lead plug in one end, needs less effort and leaves less bruising (allegedly)

You cant get a better fight than using a light rod on the boats. I used to use 30lb class gear but liek i said mnay times now use 9ft spinning rods for rough ground and 8-12lb class boat rods for wrecks.

Caught fish over 40lb on a 12lb class boat rod and 30lb braid line, as long as you have your drag set right and enjoy the fight rather than pump the hell out the fish then landing them is no problem.

Congor are a problem, tried and faild on light gear, cant get them clear of the wrecks in time.

So yer i would buy one like the one Ian was using but not the £7 one, feel that maybe alittle on the cheap chat side for me.

if I remember rightly (and it doesnt show too well on the picture) the one Ian S was using was rather less than £7, it was more like one of the plastic toy ones you use in the garden inflatable ponds for magnetic tokens of fish .............. just with a 5/0 on the end :)
