Hi all:D:D
just curious what was the first rods you had:confused:
mine was a shakespear firebird rod and reel combo off me gran for me birthday! more suited to a country stream then the tyne but it never failed me! i still have the reel which makes it nearly 17-18yrs old! and the rod is still going strong to but thats in plymouth with my cousins son!
i still have and use my first ever multiplier too a shakespear neptune(iknow!)
but i have never had any bother with it so ive kept with it!:)

My first rod was a fiberglass 10 foot job, full cork handle and heavy ceramic rings. Paired with a sea streak reel!

oh you had a screamer:D: someone told me they were virtually birds nest proof?? wouldnt mind getting a hold of one now! there on ebay all the time but always get snapped up!:)

I done exactly what you were thinking. I bought one on eBay for 14 quid last year. Bloody great nick. Got it wrapped up in bubble wrap now

nice one!!:):)
ive got an old penn 160 beachmaster aswell bud! took it fishing the other week for the first time in years and it cast like a dream! it dont have brake blocks or magnets!! only trouble the retrieve is only 3.1 so kept getting snagged up on the way back in!! apart from that a lush reel to use!!

Mine was a Kingfisher Junior leger rod, 6ft, teamed with a kingfisher Ace 300 reel. I was 8 years old when a first used that setup at the customs house, and never went back since.

And looking where am at now 10 years on, am glad I took this wonderful hobbie. :D :heartpump:

First rod and reel

Well Hi lads i was just on my 16th birthday when i got my first rod and reel and up till then i used a handline and it seemed like ages before i got my first rod and i was over the moon. It was a sealey and a sea streak multiplier and now when you think back how times have changed dont you think so well anyway good luck to you all okay.:D:D:D

First rod and reel combo I can remember being my own, and not a lend from my Dad was a 12" Milbro Barebones and Mitchel 602AP with a Don's antilash fitted. The Barebones snapped first cast with only a 4oz weight on. It came from the Littlewoods catalogue (20 weeks at 30p) and was soon replaced without any hastle.

great to hear all this nostaligia!! i think i have started summit here!!:D:D
I still use my first proper beachcaster i ever got a shakespear europa 12footer its eyed for multi and spool so ive never had cause to change it! ive had it 15yrs and it cost me £30 then i think secondhand! its still a good rod for what i use it for! ive recently got a leeda 12ft olympic b/caster with an appollo 70 fixedspool reel that i swapped a carp rod for! iknow its not a conflex but it'll do me:D

An old cork handle river rod that I got off my next-door neighbour along with an old fixedspool reel had it for years aswell caught sum half decent fish on it aswell lol those were the days :)
