yuki rods

hi phill
been into moonfleet and had alook of them and there the same weight as a coarse rod ultra light mate
have a word with andy copeland(lambtonworm)
as hes been testing them bud!

Any one else think there over rated? Can't see them coping in the rough ground or getting belted about with a 7oz lead and big bait
They are Continental style rods that are built for that style of fishing, its a completely different style to rough ground and big baits,it horses for courses Phil, what they will do is wipe the floor with your average Kompressor,wr300 or Zippy tournaments on clean beaches and soft baits, for whats its worth ive used a pendulum cast with 6oz leads on a Orata and a Q7 with no problem whatsoever.

But how will the continental style fish our winters up here? Or are they aiming for the thornys in summer? As our fishing is mainly cod in the northeast

they are designed for match fishing and putting out baits a long way with a simple overhead cast and fixed spool, they will cope with most species on clean beaches with the benefits being bite indication and ease of casting, you only have to go to any of the Summer Matches run around north east to see how popular continental rods are becoming be it Yuki,Colmic,Trabucco, vercelli or numerous other makes, times are changing and this is the way fishing is going lighter approach as people realise they get more enjoyment from it,
come the winter months and big sea no doubt out come the Century's,Zippy's etc mine included because they are more suited to the job, there is no rod that does it all though some will claim otherwise ...

Ok mate thanks for clearing it up for me as got told different cheers surely there more suited to.the south as we don't get a lot on our clean beaches

they will find favour more down on the south coast but the likes of port carlisle, druridge, long beach at shields and similar will benefit from the lighter rods,it also helps with bite presentation and less tip resistance to a biting fish.
