There was an NG1, 2 and 3. "New generation" rods, soft flexible tips but with lots of power in the lower tip and butts for long range/tournament type work. I remember ID fishing had a 13ft one in that I kept fondling!! It was way ahead of its time. Just like the pro am match with the super HT butts.
The NG1 was like an uprated 2500 same dimensions just upgraded and more powerful carbons and i think came in 12 and 13 ft dependent on which butt you chose, high carbon, powertex, kevlon etc. NG2 I think was a lighter version but I may be wrong.
They were a true pendulum type rod so nigh on useless to most unless your casting syle is up to scratch. Most people would just bend the tip thinking they were too soft. Im sure Paul Kerry did some big distances with them before his Daiwa days but again it was a long time ago!!
There was also an NG4 model these were tournament rods very pokey owned one meself many years ago Harry Barker + Malcolm Barrows also used them back in the old days (90's)
