Zziplex Zti

Just got myself a Zziplex ZTi, itching to get out and use it, anyone on here used one before if so what size weights would you recommend?

This is Mark Jakins (the bloke who taught me to cast, though the (numerous) faults in my cast are all mine) casting the ZTI at Steyning a few years back:

:o:D:eek:

i own a zti evo brilliant rod as you can see above lovely through action ,use mine with 150 gram and perfect rod for the high inertia style

i would use 3 oz mate and fish beaches with 3 hook flapper rigs, size 4 hooks tipped with mackerel or bluey :p

you dont seem to have a clue, the zti will cast 7 ounces and baits easily

Think Richie was taking the P CM, least that's how I read it.

That said when I was casting at Steyning I know Mark was using the ZTI for the bigger leads as he was struggling at the time with his technique and the TTR on the 175g. On the other hand Chris Brayley was using the ZTI on lighter leads (100g and 125g) to good effect though he did have a TC special with a bit more beef in the butt than the off the shelf model.

Lee as a fishing rod they are very good, will put a big bait a long way but still be user friendly due to the through action that you can see in the above picture

Haha Richie is taking the p**s bud, he has a TXL GT and was told it was no good for the kelp he has proved that that's crap pulling decent fish out of the the roughest ground. Thanks for the comments lads any advice and guidance is greatly appreciated. I wanna get out and catch a piggy now

I found mine ok for clean to light mixed ground only - as you can see from Stewart's photo they're a through actioned rod (never really my favourite) and lack the backbone to bully a fish, tending to fold all the way with a better fish on. Not a problem over the clean stuff where you can have a bit more play, and if the action suits you it'll be fine - I think the best I had on mine was about 8.5lb and that had it pretty buckled.

Much as I tried, I never really got on with mine and passed it on a few years ago - it's probably still doing the rounds somewhere (I think it went to a lad down Seaham way). The Evo version sounds interesting, as I might have liked it had it been a bit stiffer, certainly in the mid/butt section.

Gary :)

Love mine like but I would only use it on mixed ground at most like. I had a 9pb smooth hound on it and it was spot on like and the bite detection is excellent
