going out on sunday just wondering if anybody knows any good places to fish i already no bolam lake and barmston at washington.any help would be appreaciated around northeast only cheers

sorry lads do you need a day ticket to fish and if so how much ?
On the Tees you can fish

the area around Preston Park for free from behind the museum round to the house boundary up stream at quarry wood (about 1 mile of north bank).

Yarm you can fish from the north bank from the road bridge up stream to the old ramp into the river

South bank from Yarm school (access down the path at the flats top end of highstreet next to the police office) up stream to about 800yds past the church.

I think you can also get a pike ticket for Scaling Dam near Whitby (check Northumbrian water web site).

I know the river is successful with lots of methods.

If your not prepared to travel I would target the rivers using a mobile approach. Are you using lures?
Not fished Bolam or QE2 anyone had much luck?

I know Barmston lost a hell of a lot of fish during the winter freeze over but rumours are it is still producing.

Don't rule out the wear also.

It's very difficult to obtain good pike info as people tend to hold on to their hot spots particularly the North East waters.

5lb pike pulled from the qe2 yesterday 16-9-11 day ticket is 4 quid mate. 27.5 lb best pike outa there this yr an a canny few doubles aswell mate. reliably informed that peg 21 is the place to be for pike

There used to be quite a few pike in the wear around Ferrens park and Keepier(my biggest is 27lb from there) but the salmon anglers that are in the syndicates in that area have killed a lot of them.
They don,t like having there lures bitten off.

The Tees all the way...heres one from yesterday....

PACGB would hang you's at dawn if they saw this thread :D

While I'm not a fan of giving away good swims/waters where I've had success on open forums. Mentioning Loch Ken which is 7 mile long and the river Tees which is 85 miles long I cannot see any harm myself.
As for the PAC, Go on there website they are advertising fishing on 3 named waters.

It's all about location in the end, i could name a few stretches of the Tees that will produce pike, but conditions in a river fluctuate, and no pike hangs around the same stretch for ever. It's all about reading the conditions and considering your best options - but i would reiterate that in my mind the Tees is one of the best rivers in the country for pike fishing, with a definite possibility of a 30, and plenty of 20's to boot.
