Hightide marks?

Trying to plan some fishing over Xmas. Always difficult with family and kiddie commitments so not always able to fish around low-tide.

Is it any good fishing Long Sands or King Eddy's at High-tide?

Any other good high-tide marks Tynemouth-St. Mary's area?

(Also, is this really the best Cod/Codling season for ages??? :D Getting quite excited about all that. Alan Yates is raving on about it in Sea Angler etc...)

Some excellent high water marks if theres a good tide and sea running try the oxfauld gulley or off the corner of the prom onto king eddys bay

Hi Ross, you could always try the oxfauld gulley at Tynemouth mate or have a look up to the very north end of Whitley beach and fish the small prom at the back of the mini golf course. The boat house up there is a good mark too. All best fished on a decent sea. If there is a lot of weed about it will probably stop you fishing the last two marks though so check first.

Jim.

Thanks for that mate. Where is Oxfauld Gulley? Is it that thin gulley between the rocks on the prom at the north end of King Eddy's?...

Thats the one Ross mate. Have a look at the NESA homepage down the left hand side at "North east fishing marks" there are some maps on there.

Jim.

Great help. Cheers Jim. With a bit of luck I'll get twenty minutes or so on Boxing Day...couple of rockling'll do...:D

Elusive, hahahaha I think not lol. I have some photographs of certain NESA members with the said fish mate. I think I caught one one night too but not sure :D :D :D :D :D

Newbiggen Prom is always worth a shot ,especially on an easterly sea ,or what about hendon prom ,never tried it myself but I've heard good reports or even Seaham Hall beach ,loads of choice Ross ,depends on the conditions mate.

Just remembered, you could always try the prom across the road from the Rex too Ross, another good high tide mark but again best fished on a decent sea mate.

Jim.

I'm jotting it all down. Oxfauld sounds good. Transport and time might mean Hendon and Newbiggin are a bit far, Steve, but cheers for the suggestion mate. Never fished south of the river but looking at NESA has made me curious, like. Hendon seems pretty consistent....Maybe I'll sneak away in my Dad's Fiesta when he's pi***d and full of turkey.

(Some crackn fish seem to be out there - 11lb11 at Seaton Sluice! Superb stuff)

If it's high tide you want to fish then try Blyth beach near the middle toilets, too many times I have heard that it only fishes at low water (to be fair most shallow beaches do only fish at low water) but not Blyth, I cought 11 last year in one session, I fished about one hour up and two hours over high water, look for the holes at low water and try to get into them at high water, it's as simple as that.

The cliffs at newbiggin are a canny shot but useless if you get a big fish or you will lose it. i suggest you park at top of sandy bay and walk along cliffs til you come to the compound where the bungalow is, turn right and walk down the side of the fence and down a steep bank and you on to a flat rock platform about 15 foot above the sea. then walk about 50 to 60 yards towads newbiggin and theres a big rock that sticks up. Its a canny high water shot off there!

hi m8 i fished collywell bay on the high tide and got a few rocking and a cod of about 3-4 pound it was on a northernly and a big tide
