hi lads ,macky there on shields pier went along for a hour picked up a few macky, on spinners there was a chap on the end with daylights he was catching macky every chuck full house ,just thought i'd let you know.

i want to take my 4 year old daughter down with her float gear she got for christmas but its not very safe for a bairn when the chavs are there

Is it really that bad or is this just an exaggeration?
I've lived in shields for all of my 28 years and my old man used to take me fishing on the piers in summer for macky when I was a kid, and I dont ever remember the piers being swarmed by chavs?

aye its really that bad mate they all go drinking and most of them cant cast and as most of us know high alchohol intake and 6 oz weights dont mix very well

Christ, I think my young niaeve mind must have somehow filtered all of that out and just focused on having a belter time with the old man.

:( I was looking forward to taking the missus and the little'un out for a day, now I feel i might have to do a recce' first.

get your self down and have a look it might be to early for the chavs you might hit lucky dont let them stop you it dosnt stop me mate. get your self down. i normly take my yung un down to rat house corner it is full of them down there

I went down to Blyth pier a few times last year, they all like to stand toe to toe on the end so if you fish half way along it's not too bad. Admittedly you don't catch as much but it's safer :D

i'm ganna slap me own hands now for mentioning macky at shields.don't worry about chavs.i fish coley corner out of the way.it can get dangerous when it's crammed, but you know i was getting fish as far down as the first gate .

If your going to try Shields pier i would try it at first light, easier said than done with a missus and little un in tow. I say first light but really the crowds dont get there til 10am ish so you could have your fill and away befiore they get there. Alternatively the weekdays are quieter but avoid the weekend if you can.

Blyth pier gets the same every year. I look for an early morning, ideally mid-week, high tide if I'm going to bother at all. Daytime and afternoons, especially on the weekend are a joke once they turn up and yep all armed with carrier bags full of beer cans and white lightning cider.

Sigsy give it a couple of weeks and then do a recce - go down on a really nice day and you'll see them swarming all over the place...it's quite comical in a not really kind of way

Am personally gonna try Dunstanburgh at some point - can't see too many charvas being bothered with the walk :D

I know it's my fault for telling the chavs,,,,,,,,sorry:rolleyes: .you they just catch and bag up don't they, but can anybody tell me what do they do with all that fish, some of them are down there every day.I mean you only need a couple of fish you know for bait or to eat,at the end of the day it comes down to greed.
