Last Year I Saw A Couple Of Lads ,could,t Have Been More Than 12 Come Of The Pier With 2 Carrier Bags Full Of Macky Mabey 50 Fish ,i Said To Them What Are You Going To Do With All Those Fish, Thier Answer Was , Show Our Mams
Hard to educate kids that age, the excitement of catching just takes them over. Maybe if you'd been beside them when they were catching you might have been in with a chance of getting them to understand they'd got enough for the table and that taking anymore home that the likelyhood was that they'd just get binned.
What gets me is the blokes (who you think should know better) hauling in strings of 4/5/6 fish at a time on their big beachcasters with 30lb line on then just hoying them back, cast out again and do the same over, and on and on and on. Where's the bloody sport in that !!!. Did actually get one of my mates to stop using his beachcaster when he had a go of my 9ft spinning rod, small fixed spool and 8lb line. He couldn't believe how much of a scrap they put up on light gear. Purchase of a spinning outfit quickly followed. One educated, 1000's more to go.

Nice One Mick;i Like To Fish With A 5lbs Line On Float With The Reel Drag Almost Off, Fantastic Sport. They Go Better Than A Trout.

Mackeral season does bring out the worst in some people and it certainly drags the chavs out from under their stones.
I have a son of ten and a daughter of eight and I would love to take them spinning for Mackeral but I wont because I don't want to expose them to the behaviour and language of the people who give angling a bad name.

1st light as already mentioned, i was down today and only one other on the pier until 9am, down Monday and seen 3 others, You have the run of the pier most days from 5am until 9am, if you can get the kids out of bed worth taken them then.
that sounds like a good solution to any one wishing to enjoy the fishing instead of just banging them in 6 at a time on heavy gear. and you have to wait longer causeing more suspence and anticipation.more sport more fun

im only 17 and somtimes go fishing with my mate on the south peir and there are loads of people there casting over each other i normally take both beach caster and light spinning takle. and i preffer using the spinner, when i can get far enough up the peir to cast it out to the makrel. i don lyk being in the way of anyone coz to be honest i cant stand it when there in the way of me...
