Well after the best soaking i have ever had while fishing this weekend just gone, it was clear that my so called 100% water proof gear was not upto the job.

I have been doing some looking into the industry 100% water proof gear and looking at the likes of Guy Cotton Chinook water proofs, has anyone got or tried this gear before?

I dont want any of the well known fishing makes as tried them and they all not upto the job in my opinion, industrial gear is the way forward IMO.

Anyway be instrested to hear what people use, potters and trawelers seem to use the orange and black pul over smocks that i think are also Guy Cotton

I just got some samples from the ocean rep, these are the industrial ones, I took a sample as know a lot of commercial lads, these are as close to the old viking rubbers you can get, if you can get to moonfleet you are more than welcome to have a good tug at them to see what you think

how much?

if there as good as the old viking ones they should be worth a look at.still use my old viking ones {orange]must of had them 30+years great bit of gear.:)must be getting old like.

The waterproofs of choice for the inshore fishermen and indeed the trawler lads are the orange and black smocks / bottoms manufactured by ELKA. They are stocked by Caleys, they'll set you back about £65 for a full set but they very hard wearing and 100% waterproof.

Cheers lads, i went for the Elka as the Guy cotton was abit more and the reviews never seemed to have much between them.

As always great for the info this site and they will be going to Norway with me so cue hot dry weather....mind i will take it :)

I was wondering when you would use them cos you hide in the cabin when it rains here:D

I but you have to admit, fishing out of the cabin with the rod in one hand and a cup of tea in the other when the rain is hitting the roof does put a smile on my face, even for me :)

was gonna sugest them , and if just for boat they should be ideal lots of room to get on and off quick 100% watreproof

Have a look at Arco. They sell industrial Waterproofs. I got a pair of Viking Salopettes from them for the Boat. Proper Rubber sort of material.

Been after some myself for a while, read this thread and had a look on ebay.
Hit lucky and got a Elka smock and bib & brace for less than £40.

Just hope they fit, the smock is a large and the bottoms XL.

Knowing my luck the smock will be too small and the bottoms too big :D
