18 1/2 lb cod

I have just had on the scales a 18.6oz cod caught on lug and mussel at beadnell, can not tell you the mark as he is keeping it top secret.
It was caught by a mate of mine allen matthews

As you know we are having the best cod fishing in 50 years according to sea angler HA HA

thats a cracking fish.

there are some really good marks up around beadnell, last time i was there the seals were getting the fish off my line before i got them in!
as soon as they were around, the bites stopped coming

certainly am, was halfway through cooking breakfast when I got the call to go and photograph it. Lovely fish and a personal best.

Was talking to a couple of lads on shields pier on monday night and they were saying what a poor season they were having and that they were going up to beadnell area again soon cos it was much better, dunno if it was them but if it was, i bet theyre made up now! cracking fish, well done.

I think you'll find it's the anglers who shoal after a good catch report and not the fish
