hi all went out on Horden beach 2 days ago with mickE and caught a
1lb dab


well that's what it weighs now it gutted

any one caught any bigger from the shore ? will upload a pic later

Thats a cracker mate. I've had them over 30cm off the Walkway (so probs not far off the lb mark) but never bothered to weigh them, just four fillets, flour, eggwash and breadcrumbs and a quick shallow fry.

Cracking Dab mate. Best I've ever caught was 1.25 lbs, but that was along time ago.
Lovely tasting fish massively under rated for it's eating quality.

I caught a 2lb dab at coldingham many years ago using lug I'd just dug at Berwick, never forgot that day and it tasted brill

had 1 37cm from the tyne last winter not sure what the weight was but was def over 1lb the little bugger took a 6/0 hook.

Cant say I have ever bothered to weight a dab, but it does seem a canny size like.
Never take them home either

nows the time of year to target those big spawning females, january and feb can be better.

i had a lot of big ones on steetly during january when you could get on it. best i had was 1lb 10oz and 1lb 12oz. quite a few over 1lb 4oz.
