29th September RNLI comp

do you/we keep every fish we catch ? Bit confused with comp rules etc . Help me out chaps please

Your biggest/heaviest fish must reach minimum legal size limit for you to weigh it in.
There is only one prize up for grabs so only weigh in one fish.
If you want to keep all the fish you catch well that's up to you.
Good luck and thank you for joining the corse.

Right lads/lasses the RNLI comp will be on Sunday the 29th of September from 11am to 5pm.
There will be NO boundaries but you must redgester at the car park next to SUES cafe at roker between 9.30am to 10.30am.
£2 per rod used and two items of fishing tackle to put in the box.
Ie: two traces or two weights ect, you get the idea.
The single heaviest fish wins what ever is in the box and all money taken goes to the RNLI.
There is no restriction on how many hooks you can use or what bait.
Just please be honest and no cheating.
Hope to see lots of you there.
Juniors can fish also you will be fishing against adults as there will be only one winner. May the best fisher person win.
Good luck.

Heaviest fish? What's the thinking behind this Steve? That means all sized fish are going to be killed. What's wrong with our usual longest fish, measure, photograph and release?

The reason for doing it this way is because some of the people fishing this comp will be using there cars to travel to and from there fishing spot to weigh in.
So theirs a good chance the fish will be dead and it's against the law to keep and kill under size fish.
I know we measure and release but with there being no boundaries it will be very hard.

Because there is no to prove that the fish in the photo was not caught weeks ago.
That's the only reason for the change.

wat a bout on the day give each angler a card with sundays date on with you initialing it before they set off should work , i think !

It has came to my attention that there maybe a few juniors fishing the comp if so I will make up a second box of goodies just for the youngens to win.
But same rules apply.
But none turn up then all goodies will be in one box.
Age limit for kids is upto 17 do you all agree.

Isn't there a boat comp on the same day ( Sunday 29th September) which will be the third time its been scheduled to take place.

to prove fish caught on that day for measure and release....
a:
the organisers can print a simple species hunt card for the day

b:
take a photo with the sunday paper in the background .

however as its a single fish weigh in its up to the angler to decide which fuish he wants to weigh in . if said angler wants to keep (for example) 3 sized fish for the table then weigh in his heaviest fish . then technically its no different to a pleasure angler taking some home for table .

my two pennies...

hope i make it sunday....

Will try to make it over, looking at the forecast it could be a canny day though the piers might be touch and go. One question though - what time is the weigh in? I assume it's back at Sue's caff but you need a closing time for the scales. I'd suggest 6pm, or 6:30 if you are being generous...

I am fishing Shields pier. Registering at Roker, fishing the pier then heading back for the weigh in ( if that's what happens) You're welcome to join me if you want to do the same.
