remember it well, it was sold to a Blyth fishmonger who I belive gave it to an old folks home. Best place to try for a photo would be the archives at the Discovery Museum in Newcastle, but you would have to be pretty precise with the date or you could have a long search. Could give them a ring to see what they say.

I'm sure I've got a pic of it somewhere.....

Hello,

I remember that fish, I'm sure it was in the local press, an absolute monster of a fish we as anglers can only dream about.

If you ever get the chance read "COD" by Mark Kurlansky, a great book and it lists fish of 211 pounds!!

Regards Ian.

Brilliant book, well worth rading, and a great insight into catches of years gone by. It makes you realises how we have destroyed the wealth of the sea

Sorry its not the best quality Jonny, I knew I had the press cutting somewhere though. It was caught in 87, not the late 70's though - is this the same fish? It weighed 100lb and was caught 5 miles off Blyth.

Jeez, my fish-bag would be a mere nose-bag to a thing like that! :o Wouldn't fancy lugging one of those off the end of the Emblestones!!
