Hi.

I dont know of anywhere you can get a 6ft fly rod, why exactly do you want one? I wouldnt be able to see the point of one to be honest? If you can explain why you want one, I might be able to help!

all right m8 just joined easthartford fishing club so can now fish the river blyth and been told i need a 6ft rod as there,s not much room for casting

Ok then. Well not many companies (if any), make 6ft fly rods. It all depends on the water that your fishing. If you need a small rod, go for something like an 8ft or 8ft 6" #3/4. Its not really the rod that will get in the way, but your casting. But, with certain styles of casts, you should be ok.

spot on m8 i have a 10ft for the still water,s but this year will be my first on a river thanks for your help

I always take a 10ft #4 with me for my river competitions early season. Always comes in handy for splashing 3 'bugs' under trees etc etc. If you need any help with techniques or flies, feel free to let me know.

there's a few out there, I've got a Hardy Sirrus 7footer, but have a look out for a shakespeare 'Excursion' - not to be mixed up with the spinning rod they currently make also called an 'Excursion'

they've stopped making them, but they are cracking little rods, just over 6foot, and six pieces so almost fits in yer pocket, full carbon, great action, but the butt section has a neat trick up its sleeve, it splits in 2 and reverses so it doubles up as a little spinning rod. They pop up on ebay quite often

Fladen do a canny 7 footer (ebay 170169910689), 3 piecer, good quality blank as well IMHO, for what they cost

there's always a few 7 footers on ebay

I use 6 and 7 foot rods quite a bit, but I never ever fish stockie still waters. For smaller rivers and burns they are tremendous fun, it depends on what and where the river is you're fishing, most of the english rivers I fish I seldom go above 8'6, if I do it's because sea trout and salmon are on the menu

stand in the middle of the river and cast up stream or down, one way to avoid the canopies, but not always possible - especially for those interesting looking bits where the canopies are low and meet in the middle. there's a tremendous section in the burn here, where the only way I've ever manage to winkle a few out is to kneel down in the middle!

the lad,s in the club said not to pay a lot for for the river tackle as i will probly fall over and snap it. i have a 10ft grey,s grxi kit and love it. and also have some weekend job,s coming up and carnt say no to new tackle so if you p.m me a price and still have it next month we,ll see what we can do.and then my lass carnt see a hole in my wage lol
