A few more lure caught Pollack from the Leas

Decided to give Johnsons Rock a try over Low water this morning. Managed to scramble right down to the waters edge and was greeted by lovely clear water and tons of kelp to about 20 to 30 yards out.

The water was still deep close in and with my Polaroids on I could see right to the Bottom.

Tried a few soft plastics again, rigged weedless. Again nothing happening.

Clipped on the 28g Zenith and was bang straight into the Pollack again. Only this time I could see them swimming out of the kelp and taking the spinner! Even though they were only small the visual aspect of the fishing is tremendous and on 5-28g rod makes the fishing really fun.

Another 4 Pollack this morning, all small so I didnt bother with more pics after the first.

Think I'll pop down again about 6.30pm for an hour to see if I can manage to entice any bigger ones.

Guess your blanking streak is well and truly over, long live the non blanking streak.

It would appear so.....Iv managed to find a formula that works, like most things in life I find 'a little often' is best.

Rather than demoralising myself with continuous blanks of 6-8hr sessions infrequently, iv started to fish more often but only for an hour or 2 max, always keeping on the move to find the fish. Three or Four 2hr sessions over a week is much more rewarding than one 6-8hr blank.

Chris,

The spinner is just a cheap one. It's a 28g zenith silver minnow and you can get them from Reelsport for about £1.20 each. You can't go wrong with them, they cast a mile, cheap and the fish seem to love them.

hi mate, looks beautiful where you were fishing, ive been doing the same stuff around the borders in scotland with my trusty sidewinders and jelly worms, somedays not a touch, change to the old spinner and bingo, they are pesky critters sometimes, ive had the same experience as you wearing polaroids seeing the fish take, rushing out from the kelp,i tend to cast paralell to the rocks with a good chuck and then reel in rather than chuck straight out, could i ask you where the mark was or would you have to shoot me on knowing where it is,it also looks very coddy to me on a big peeler bait close in:D

Yeah you do get Cod from this mark if you can stomach the tackle losses. To be honest I was targeting a Wrasse or Red Cod on the soft plastics using Slug-go's, X-Layers and Senkos. When nothing was showing an interest I changed to the spinner. I love fishing this way, you get a real sense of satisfaction even if you blank.

No problem on disclosing the location it's a fairly well known mark. Iv dropped a pin on the location at High Water. At low water you can get right down to the waters edge.

hi mate, stunning photos,am fishing with the old scarboro reel and backcaster now for the really wicked kelp stuff,60lb mono straight through,a three way swivel a 6oz lead and as much peeler as i can bung onto a 6/0 hook,it dont cast to far but nobody told the fish, we sometimes cast over there heads, ive invested in modern gear over the last month or so and its a pleasure to use on a beach or over grass or in the mixed stuff that aint to heavy, the old backcaster bends like a banana but as a combination with the scarboro for getting out the kelpies its a winner, its just like the spinners just cos its old dont mean it dont work:Dyou ever want to fish eyemouth or st abbs or anywhere in between let me know, there are a few lads up for a meet at the end of july(im coming up from hertfordshire for a week)good fishing:D
