Was out again with scot (cocomonkey) again for a few hours last night, had plenty of mackie, infact we couldnt get past them for a while, a load of good sized whiteys, and a little codling. We fished out of the piers in a few differnt, random spots upto i guess about 2-3 miles out. The thing is though we never manage to find many good size cod, as scot is waiting for his new fish finder (old one is goosed) and we wont be able to find wrecks this weekend with out it, where would you recomend we go to get ourselfs a few nice fish and what methods would you recomend?

You should still be able to position yourselves over the wrecks with ya GPS / Plotter, the sounder just confirms you are in the right place, we don't need a sounder, I always confirm the wreck is below us by shouting "Arghhhhh Stuck as F*** again". :D

You could try close in with some fresh crap around the Marsden / Souter areas.

Good Luck!

there lays the next problem, how true are our GPS cords? lol

i guess its jst a case of head for one and try to fish it !

Yella can at whitley always seems a canny shot ..usualy a few boats around there so at least you know your in the right area.

Aye it's not Black & White :D just easier to see I guess, you wouldn't wanna watch Corrie in B & W these days. :D

Shady is having sounder problems, nightmare trying to find a company willing to test it. :(

fair one lol

Looks like i'm taking Scot over to Storrar Marine tomorrow on my lunch to have a look, so might have it fitted for the weekend, if his foot is well enough to go out

try around the Briar Dene Shoals with crab bait, or just off St Georges around the nettly beds, no more than a mile off. Your GPS co ordinates always vary from day to day and quite often from hour to hour, as the gps usualy picks up the best five from seven satalites, if it changes one then you could be out a little, mind some now use the seven, you could be just be a little bit out and without a fishfinder you would never find the wreck. Mind it is possible to find a few of the close in wrecks from land marks, that you had to do a l;ong time ago.

aye if this foots better lol ill buy a fishfinder 2morro mate and we will have it fitted for sunday norman if you read this post will you send me some cords for close in wrecks ones you have founds aswell mate so i know they are there and also i could do with cords for 3mile wreck please
cheers scotty

That finder that Keith put a link up for looks like a good deal to me. Well worth it, especially from a local company that you can pick it up from and have a look before you buy.

Print it off and ask Storrar to do a price match, if they want your cash they should do.

i rang them yesterday to compare prices, they said they dont stock them but they could get them in,, will have a look and see what they have in stock, knowing scot he'll buy somthing there and then lol
