Has anyone fished in County Down? My brother lives near Downpatrick and is always asking me to go over. I\'ve checked out websites and there\'s a commercial industry there but couldn\'t find any local angling info.

I visited two years ago and had a fantastic time (non fishin\'). The scenery is a photographer\'s dream and the Guiness.......well, need I say more!

I can eat his food, drink his beer and hijack the family car for as long as I like, so a few hours fishin\' could also be on the agenda next time I visit

Any info would be very welcome

Graham try this one mate it might be a help.

Fished last year on the North Antrim coast. Fishing there was mainly for flats, flounder, dab and turbot but bass and mullet could be caught. Was fishing a match so was pegged. Worm and mackerel or razorfish took fish. often the fish are close in I\'m told with a bit of surf but it was flat.

Log in to the site alan.f suggested, they\'ve been a great help for my trip to Kerry.

I\'ve been checking out Strangford Lough coz it\'s not far from my bro\'s house. There\'s even a skipper over there (Bangor) who will pick you up from Portpatrick. Thanks again for the links lads, they\'ve been a great help.

Hi john, hope the new job is working out for you. I seen that you havn\'t been able to get out on your leave (bummer eh). Never mind! If you can get in my suitcase and carry it at the same time you\'re welcome and we could make a few bob on the way lol

strangford lough can produce some good tope this time of year ,there are also some skippers in bangor aswell one being a boat called the missy moo there is a tackle shop right at the harbour you could pick up some good spots there if you call.i know they are getting makerel there at the moment.further on round the coast there is red bay which is fishing quite well from boat and shore.

Thanx for the tips beachcaster. Missy Moo skipper\'s got a website that I checked and sounds good but local tips are always best. My brother lives in Ballynahinch so any pointers from there would be more than welcome.

where you are based you are within 40 minutes drive of the mouth of strangford lough where you can spin on the rocks for pollock and makerel or bottom fish for qite a few species but if you need bait you need to either bring it yourself or get it in belfast.there are two charter boats on strangford lough if you fancy a day out ,there are plenty of deep water marks on the other side of the golf club on the rocks.there should be some makerel spinning ,good luck let me know how you get on.cheers john.
